What to expect at your Whole House Comfort Check-Up?

THE INITIAL CONSULTATION
The check-up starts with an interview with your Comfort Indoor Air Quality Specialist. All adults in the home are encouraged to participate since we all have unique perception of comfort and indoor air quality.

EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
The inspection begins with your heating and cooling equipment. The specialist will provide a visual inspection and evaluate your system’s air filtration and purification efficiency.

INSULATION INSPECTION
Even the best heating and cooling system won’t keep you comfortable if your home does not have proper insulation. The Specialist will check insulation levels to determine if they are at recommended levels BUT more importantly he will be checking for hidden defects, such as hollow wall cavities, that allow air and heat to bypass your insulation.

AIR LEAKAGE EVALUATION
Not all air leaks are equal. Leaks around your doors and windows are good, they let in fresh outdoor air. Bad leaks let in dusty, moldy or polluted air from your attic, garage or crawl space. Leaky ductwork contributes to the inefficient use of energy and your wasted money. The infiltrometer blower door test will pinpoint your homes good and bad leaks.

AIR FLOW DIAGNOSTICS
The Specialist will conduct ‘static pressure’ tests-like a blood pressure check for your ductwork-to reveal any hidden blockages or design problems.

PERSONALIZED IMPROVEMENTS PLAN
Your Specialist will be able to review results once the inspection and tests are completed. He will then give you a prioritized list of recommended improvements-many of which can be done by the you, the homeowner. Upon your request, your Specialist will prepare a proposal for repairs that are remaining.
